This is a story from my dads work which is in a steel heating treatment plant. Normally my dad, on Monday would start the furnaces that would be used to treat the steel but one Sunday two of the guys, we’ll call them Larry and Bill thought they would be good guys and start the furnaces even though neither of them had done so before. They shut the door to the furnace and closed everything off and turned on the gas to full and left it for a little over ten minutes (by the way these furnaces are air tight) then they took a lit blow torch and opened the door the resulting explosion burnt off the skin on their faces and arms and most of the chest area of the guy holding the torch (Larry) and burnt the skin and some of the face of the guy standing behind him (Bill). At least Bill was able to get to the gas valve and shut it off before they had somebody else take them to the hospital. The next day my dad went in and started the furnaces without a problem. Guess they figured my dad was old (72) and since he had lit the furnaces for 24 years they could do it too.
